Mitral Annulus Disjunction: Diagnostic Modalities, Clinical Implications, and Prognostic Progression

چکیده

Mitral annulus disjunction (MAD) is an abnormal insertion of the flexion line mitral into atrial wall. The presents a separation (disjunction) between posterior leaflet–atrial wall junction and left ventricular myocardial crest.1 MAD was first described more than 30 years ago in autopsy study reportedly related to valve prolapse (MVP) 92% cases.2 Since then, several studies have been conducted, reports on prevalence patients with MVP varied. Ultimately, it may or not be associated regurgitation. Transthoracic echocardiography part initial assessment, allowing its diagnosis assessment complications. As new diagnostic methods emerged, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging transesophageal improved this pathology terms diagnosis, extension, location. However, phenotypic characteristics that are closely remain uncertain mainly due limited number classic subject. Patients develop symptoms arrhythmias, configuring arrhythmic syndrome, which progress sudden death. literature conflicting prognostic data among subject from clear criteria best method used treatment prognosis. This review describes (or not) improve management important pathology.

Prognostic Implications of Diagnostic

The long-term prognostic implications of the electrocardiographic location of a myocardial infarction and the subsequent retention or disappearance of diagnostic Q waves were examined in patients enrolled in the Aspirin Myocardial Infarction Study (AMIS). The 4524 participants, ages 30-69 years, had sustained a myocardial infarction 8 weeks to 60 months before randomization to aspirin and place...

Mitral Annulus Calcification.

Mitral annulus calcification (MAC) is a chronic, degenerative process in the fibrous base of the mitral valve. Although MAC was initially thought to be an age-related degenerative process, there is accumulating evidence that other mechanisms, such as atherosclerosis and abnormal calcium-phosphorus metabolism, also contribute to the development of MAC. Despite its frequency, the clinical relevan...

Caseous Necrosis of Mitral Annulus

Masses or mass-like lesions located in proximity to mitral valve encompass a wide range of differential diagnoses including neoplasias, abscesses, thrombi, and rarely caseous calcification of mitral annulus. Due to asymptomatic presentation, its diagnosis is usually incidental. Echocardiography is the first choice of imaging in evaluation. Cardiac computed tomography (CT) is helpful in establis...

Morphofunctional Abnormalities of Mitral Annulus and Arrhythmic Mitral Valve Prolapse

BACKGROUND Arrhythmic mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is characterized by myxomatous leaflets and left ventricular (LV) fibrosis of papillary muscles and inferobasal wall. We searched for morphofunctional abnormalities of the mitral valve that could explain a regional mechanical myocardial stretch. METHODS AND RESULTS Thirty-six (27 female patients; median age: 44 years) arrhythmic MVP patients w...

Peak early diastolic mitral annulus velocity by tissue Doppler imaging adds independent and incremental prognostic value.

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to ascertain if left ventricular mitral annulus velocities measured by tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) are more powerful predictors of outcome compared with clinical data and standard Doppler-echocardiographic parameters. BACKGROUND Tissue Doppler imaging of basal or mitral annulus velocities provides rapid assessment of ventricular long axis function. But it...
